Yoga for Arthritis and Chronic Pain

I found a 6-week workshop on Yoga with Arthritis and Chronic Pain.  It’s too far away to attend long-term, about 35-minute drive.  But it’s very helpful.  I’m learning about modifications and poses that can help with joint pain and enthesitis.  I really want to build a daily practice, every day I start with the best intentions but like all other forms of physical activity the effort feels insurmountable most days.

My instructor Gretchen told me that it is okay sometimes to just cry and feel my pain.  That sounds discouraging but really it wasn’t.  This is part of my experience right now and as exhausting as it is to be in it, it is even more exhausting to fight it.

An Instagram follower commented “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Perspective is everything”

That is so true.  If I stop looking at my pain as something I need to conquer but rather something I need to work with and around the pain changes.  It doesn’t hurt any less but it reduces the effort and lets me live in the moment.
